MAGMA 4 or 16 Port DMA Sp - SBus DMA Serial Multiplexors: MAGMA's SBusDMA serial adapters are high speed Direct Memory Access (DMA) Sun SBusexpansion boards featuring four or sixteen serial ports with full modemcontrol. The on-board RISC processors move the data to/from the hostmemory without host CPU intervention. Each board supports baud rates ofup to 256Kbps full-duplex per channel. These boards are designed tointerface to V.34 modems or ISDN terminal adapters. Serial PortHardware: MAGMA's SBus DMA serial adapters are single width SBusboards. The boards use Cirrus Logics CD2400 RISC I/O processors capableof controlling each serial line with a minimum number of CPU interrupts.The RISC processors move the data to be transmitted from host memory andreceived data to host memory using DMA. Parity checking and flowcontrol are handled automatically without CPU intervention. The boardsare designed to minimize host CPU usage when running at full speed.Several MAGMA SBus DMA serial adapters can be installed in a system. Thedriver is optimized to reduce CPU utilization and treats all of theboards in the system as a single device. Multiple service requests can behandled in a single pass through the driver. Software: The MAGMA SBusDMA serial adapter device driver is written to maximize performance ofthe serial ports. Drivers are available for Solaris(R) 2.x or SunOS(TM)4.1+ and support all features and are automatically installed with aneasy to use program.
